TIME TRIAL RESULTS - SEPTEMBER 10-2009
No PB's this week. A complaint was lodged by OnStar David regarding an alleged drafting incident on the bike course. This has resulted in Tim and Steve being docked 5 Nacho Points and put in the category of DNPFF (for a definition of this abbreviation see David since it is not appropriate for younger viewers). If they wish to appeal this decision they will need to take it to the Court of Nacho Arbitration.
See you on Thursday.
P.S. Congratulations to David, Marianne and Marci who completed the Muskoka 70.3 on Sunday.

Welcome to Slowtwitch.com - Kentucky triathlete killed by hit-and-run driver
Written by: Timothy Carlson
Date: Sat Aug 01 2009
A Kentucky man participating in a sprint triathlon in Louisville, Kentucky was struck and killed this morning by a hit-and-run driver, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.
Police charged Kenneth Yates, 25, of Louisville with murder, drunk driving and assault on a police officer, according to Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley. Police stated that Yates was drunk and driving at high speed when he hit John Carr, 47, of near by Owenton, Kentucky, about 8 a.m.
Carr was riding in the cycling leg of a sprint triathlon at E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park when he was hit from behind. Louisville Metro Police said that Yates continued driving with Carr’s bicycle still on his windshield until he was stopped by an off-duty police officer directing traffic for the triathlon.
According to police, Yates fled on foot to a nearby house until he was brought back to the scene by his mother.
The Courier-Journal cited a Jefferson County Deputy Coroner who said that Carr was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma. Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Smiley said Yates resisted arrest, which prompted the additional assault charge.
The 28th annual edition of the E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park Triathlon was a USA Triathlon sanctioned event consisting of a half mile swim, 14-mile bike and a 5k run held on park grounds and surrounding roads.

Canada Day Ride
Who is in for a 2nd annual Canada Day ride?
Last year I think it was a pretty decent group and we ended up doing a 4 hour ride starting around 8am or so.
I'd love to do it again - anyone else?

Mass Swim starts suck.
This past weekend, a small contingent of Nacho Athletes participated in the 2009 OAT club championships at Guelph Lake. It was an Olympic distance tri, and the 5 members who participated, had a great day. Thanks to Kerry, Austin and Gord's mom for cheering us on. It seems the Nachos are gaining some noteriety, as we had some random strangers giving us Nacho support. As of this morning, no results have been posted with regards to the Club championship.
Peter Jones - 2:53:05
Steven David - 2:57:17
Tim Graves - 3:02:58
Gord Lane - 3:03:45
Chris George - 3:06:18

See you next week.

Call to all Nacho Racers
This weekend is the OAT club championship at Guelph Lake. We'd like to see as many Nachos come and race this event to make a good showing in our inaugural year as a sanctioned team. To date only 5 racers are confirmed to be racing, we need more support than that. Racers can do either the sprint or the olympic distance.
Hope to see you out on the course!
Don't forget to watch Dave as he races the Ford Ironman Coeur d'Alene, and attempts to qualify for Kona again! We are rooting for you Dave.

TIME TRIAL RESULTS - JUNE 11 - 2009
Here are the results for last night's time trial. A small but eager group showed up for the event including our intrepid swim coach, Jane. The weather was nice, no rain and the wind was ok. Many regular Nachos were Missing-in-Action, I guess their feet were still frozen from Wednesday nights swim! Thanx to David for timing even on his taper for Coeur d'Alene.
