Canada day RIDE!

I have an idea for a C-Day ride: Start at Trysport or CT parking lot.

South to Foots Bay and then over to Port Sanfield Road at Port Carling.

North to Rosseau in search of butter tarts.

Home through Humphrey and perhaps a Tim Hortons stop for the quintessential Canadiana experiance!

Start time 7:30am or 8:00am? Should plan for a 4 1/2 to 5 hour ride.
( could someone bring some TP?)

Update on Chris' Point Appeal Sit-Down

Update on Chris' point appeal. A sit-down was held at the Don's place to resolve the issue of Chris' lost point dating back to the race on June 19th. While all agreed that Chris was owed one point, it was also agreed that his absence demonstrated a complete lack of regard for this time honored process and disrespect for the members convened. As a result he will not get his extra point and will be fined one picture of Keith's and a plate of Nachos at the next gathering.
So decreed - the nacho team!!!!!!!!

Karma

Congrats all the Nacho Team members who participated in this past weekends' Triathlon in Huntsville. It was a great showing by the Nacho team, and great results in this early season race.

I had a great time at my first race, and am officially hooked on the sport. Thanks to Steve for providing Nacho Support on my virgin voyage. I attribute my quick transition times to him.

As some of you may or may not have heard, when I returned to the transition zone after my race, my wetsuit was nowhere to be found. I was a bit miffed, as it was only the second time I'd even worn the damn thing. I spoke to many fellow athletes and none of them had ever heard of anything getting stolen from the transition zone. Of course there are a trillion "sleeveless Nineteen pipeline wetsuits" out there, so it was feaseable that someone took it by accident, but I thought that there would be one left.

Turns out a friend of mine returned later that evening to check out the exhibits, and low and behold there was a lone wetsuit identical to the one that I had. Not sure what happened, but I'm just glad to have it back.

Next stop Peterborough Sprint!

CONGRATULATIONS NACHO TEAM !

TIME TRIAL

<>
We are planning to have our first time trial this Thursday evening. We will be meeting at the Sobey’s parking lot @ 6:30PM. Our route is 13km and uses both Ostler Park Drive and HW#518. We will be leaving at 1 minute intervals beginning with the slower riders and ending with the fastest. We will not be doing the event in any heavy rain because of the cornering involved. Please let david@pstrysport.com
know if you are interested in attending. There is no cost for this event.

RANKIN LAKE ROAD BRIDGE UPDATE

The decking was still on the bridge Friday afternoon (June 6).

The supervisor on site said he did not 'recommend' that people walk across the bridge during off-work hours since it is a construction site (the workers were all walking on the decking when I was there). They have removed most of the railing but have not started on the decking yet. However, I suspect that by next weekend the decking will be gone.

The area is somewhat blocked off with snow fencing but you could still walk over the bridge. It will be up to everyone individually if they wish to cross for the ride tomorrow morning or ride somewhere else.

Intermediate Women's Bike Ride - Saturday

Our fearless captain's 'Better Half' asked me to post this for her.

According to Tiffany there will be an 'intermediate' ladies bike ride this Saturday (June 7) leaving from Hwy 141 and Hwy 69 at 8:30 am. All are welcome.

Saturday Morning Ride Time

Do the Saturday rides start at 7?

Is anyone interested in going at 6.30 or 6.00? I have to be home around 8.30 so am getting out early on Saturdays where I can.

On a realated note I am considering riding on hwy 400 for about 1km from Oastler Park Drive to the Tim Hortons to bypass the Rankin Lake Road bridge repair closure. How safe is this? There is a very wide shoulder, not very far and there is that inspection station there also you can ride through....

Cheers,
Tom

TOUR de MUSKOKA 2008

Just like Sunday in the Muskoka Highlands, minus the snow!

Sunday, June 1, 2008

There be some hills in that there Muskoka

The Nacho team conquered yet another event. The Spin the Lakes Bike tour was a success, and members participated in the 50k, 105k, and the 160k.

Marty, Steve and Chris did the 105k, and fought hard with the hills of the Muskoka and Haliburtan highlands. Thankfully they came out victorious, and were able to stuff there faces at CRABBY JOE's pub with pasta.. and of course Beer.

It was a great event.. hopefully more people can go next year.

Apparantly the sailing was great too.
