NACHOMAN 2008 POST RACE

Wow!! Thanks to everyone who showed for Nachoman 2008. Weather was perfect and a great time was had by all. We began with a swim of around 1000m, biked 73km, ran 8.1km then completed the beer mile. Other than coughing up some beer foam and dry heaves, the race went off without a hitch. Bear Chair Dave stole the show almost scoring a huge upset driven by his mad beer-gunning skills. Dave B was able to hold off the challenger and score the victory. Tim Graves came out of somewhere to take 3rd place with a crazy sprint to the finish.

Post race nachos were very well received thanks to Peter's stewardship and Marty's work ethic bringing out the nachos with the baked-on salsa.

I would personally like to thank everyone for their efforts ensuring Nachoman was a success. Especially Michelle who acted as timekeeper, SAG Wagon driver, Aid Station volunteer, Photographer and having the courage to hang around the beer mile finish area!

If anyone who took pictures can send them to me at thomasdabek@gmail.com it would be much appreciated.

12 months away from Nachoman 2009!

NACHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

TIME TRIAL RESULTS - AUGUST 7

Seven PB run times this week - way to go!

No bike PB times yet since we started a new course.

bracebridge half iron distance

Well it was my first running race, and I had a great time. I took all your advice, left it all on the road and was looking for pace bunnies but couldn't find any that were holding the pace I was looking for. The course was fairly flat so it was good that way and on every hill I was able to make up some time and pass the person ahead of me. Congrats to Dave B for his finish. Even with a cramped leg he hit the podium. Tom won some free swag and Celeste said she had the bike of her life, which is awesome. I've got a few pics that I'll post later on but thanks to all for the encouragement and the words of wisdom.

NACHOMAN 2008 ROLL CALL

Date is Sunday August 17th starting at 8am

If you are planning on attending, please indicate in the comments section.
Also, let me know whether after Nachoman we should just do Nachos & Beer or have a BBQ.
Depending on how it plays out there may be a $10 charge to fund nachos/food/beer

Details of the event are below, still up for discussion:

Bike from there, upon arrival at Trysport we leave the bikes there and run back to the Run Finish / Staging Area on the attached map. Then we do the Beer Mile and then return to my house for NACHOS & BEER.

4th 4 Chips
Finishers 2 Chips

Swim, Bike & Run Segments
1st 5 Chips
2nd 4 Chips

3. Sprint finish around the same spot but when coming back north on 69
4. Hilltop finish just over the overpass over hwy 400 north of Alves motors

**Also final bike segment placings and time differences will be determined by finish on top of overpass over hwy 400 on Black Road. From there all riders will regroup and finish the ride to Trysport a la Avenue des Champs-Élysées procession style. I think its best we don’t race on the section of hwy 400 between Tim Hortons & Oastler Park Drive as well as racing through town to Trysport. We will just add that to the total times but the same for everyone.

All Finishers 5 Chips

3rd 1 Chip

SUNDAY RIDE this weekend.

This is a little late but I will be biking a near 130km route this Sunday, August 10th. Starting at Trysport , over to Rosseau and then on south to Port Sanfield between lake Rosseau and lake Joseph. Head west on HWY 118 from Port Carling over to Foots Bay at the junction of HWY 169 and old Hwy 69. Turn left and head south to The Cove, turn around and back up to PS.
My goal is not speed, boys, (keep it averaging just under 30?). I can make sure there's cold Keiths at the end! If doing well I might end with a run as well.

About half way is the Port Sanfield bakery!. There's a icing convered danish there that just keeps on giving!

How about a 7:00am start?

call me crazy, or better just call me.

Peter

Bracebridge Half IronDistance

I'm entered in this race as a relay with Celeste, and was interested in who else is gunna be at this race this sunday??

I'll be doing the run as Celeste is an animal in the water and a Rocket on the bike. I'm just lucky she thinks I can hold my own on the run :-)

Any suggestions for a newbie to the running racing scene?
