SPIN THE LAKES CYCLING TOUR

For anyone who is doing the Spin The Lakes Cycling Tour this Sunday I made a map of the course showing contours. This way you can anticipate the pain of the climbs before you get there on the weekend.

The file size of this jpeg is fairly large (7 MB sorry).

Marty

P.S. If you want a hardcopy that is better quality let me know. This blog site does not let me post pdf files which are smaller and print much better.

Public Service Announcement from Chris "Sunshine" George

If I learned anything today, it's SCOUT YOUR BIKE ROUTE.

I got home from work, finally recovered from the half marathon, all hot shit to get back on the bike. I think quickly and say to myself.. "I'm kind of bored with the old route to Mactier, I'm gonna mix it up and take 141 to Sword's Road, to 518 to Rankin Lake Rd, and back to my house!"

Apparently there is some construction underway on the 518.

There were times I thought I might get hit by the front end loader. There were times I almost ate shit on the loose gravel and "MUD", which apparantly road tires don't do well in. Although the sign turners all smiled and waved as I went by.. I'm sure they were thinking "What the hell is this Asshat doing?"

It also didn't help that the goddam wind was 300 km/h right in my face the whole bloody time.

2 hours, and 50km later I'm home. I'm eating a WHOLE pizza, and drinking 2 beer.

Bringing Home the Hardware.

Nacho Average Capitol Invasion

Well.. we did it. The weather was beautiful, and the course was great. 10,000 runners and lots of spectators, it was a super event, minus the zoo that was race kit pickup.

Results are here
We were unable to find Marty and the others, but we did manage to meet up with Kim who was the only one who did the full. Congrats Kim!

Stay tuned for pictures from the event.

Double Bricking!

I'm going to try a double brick tomorrow, probably in the morning sometime.

Have to do this on the old highway from Crappy Tire to the Sequin golf course as I'm on call this week end and can't risk being too far away.

So then 20k bike/ 5k run/ 20k bike/ 5-7k run.

I'll even splurge for coffee at Tims afterward if you're nice to me.

Anybody interested in joining me? ( Warning, I tend to sweat profusely)

2008 LIVE GIRO d'ITALIA COVERAGE

For those of you looking for a Bicycle Racing fix (until the Tour de France starts on OLN) you can watch the Giro d'Italia live on the internet. You need a high speed internet connection.
http://www.cyclingfans.com/ has a couple of options for watching the race. They have both Italian and Norwegian television feeds and if you speak either of these languages you are all set to go. If you speak English there is another link Cyclingfans.com Giro Player 2 that provides an Italian TV feed along with the Eurosport British commentary - the sync is off sometimes but it is not too bad.

Enjoy.

P.S. I hear that eating Nachos and drinking beer during viewing is preferred training.

a message from the president

Well I am not really the president but I liked the product so much I bought a round.

Would You Enjoy This Cheese Fountain?

I would have to say that this chocolate fountain converted into a nacho cheese factory has got to be one of the all time greatest ideas.

Its disgusting. Disgustinly beautiful.

Nacho Team Approved Baby Food!

Alxender Keith et. al.

I hereby declare that I will no longer be training with Alexander Keith, John Labbatt, Captain Morgan or any other such characters. I have found these guys have hampered my progress. Dealing with them causes me headaches quite frankly they make me sick. I will be reviewing this decision On June 30, 2008 and I am optimistic that I will be able to give these boys another chance. Part of this is for Dave as I'd really like to get to B2B without the injury anticipated on the last poll.

I would like to ensure the other Nacho team members that they are still encouraged to include these individuals, among other, in their regular training programs. After all this is a Free country. Right Chris?

TATTOO POLL

Voting would be easier if we could see examples of the available tattoos. Maybe Onstar David could try them all and post pictures on the blog?

Wed A.M. run

Peter J and I have scheduled a run for tomorrow (WED.) morning. Leaving Victory around 6:30. We're aiming to do around 6-8k. Hope to see you there. In order to facilitate this we might forgo the post swimming festivities tonight.
I'll be riding in -leaving around 5:30 if any of you Humphrey people (Chris) are interested. Hopefully it won't be too dark.
Tim

Reminder SPIN THE LAKES bike tour

Just a reminder to Nacho Team Members. The Spin the Lakes bike tour in Muskoka is on June 1st. You have to register by May 18th to get the cheaper rate, and a shirt (which is the only reason we do these things right?).

Let's have a good showing of Nacho Shirts.

Tues. am Bike Ride

There will be a bike ride leaving from Trysport at 6:15am.

Be there.

ONSTAR DAVID

How the hell do you post to this Blog anyway?!! I am forced into obscurity by leaving a comment (that no one important may read) to "peter j" 's post.

Postscript: Obviously someone important did read my comment because Chris let me into the Blog posting world. I think this warrants a Post as opposed to a lowly Comment. Thanx Chris.

I was out biking with my wife (Linda) Sunday afternoon and she got the first of two flats close to Parry Sound. In order to impress my better half, I foolishly started to repair the flat. Moments later David rode up on his mountain bike (he was hard to recognize covered in mud) along with his trusted assistant Peter I. I did not realize that when Linda got her bike recently from David she purchased the optional ONSTAR David feature. Apparently when you get a flat on your bike you press a small button on your bike and David will magically show up and change your flat - quickly and efficiently.

Later the same day…….

3/4 of the way up Shoebottom Hill on 518 Linda got another flat - @#$%&^*!! Anyway, I did manage to impress her this time by successfully repairing the flat. The ONSTAR David feature seemed to be malfunctioning. We headed for home since I was out of spare tubes. As we turned onto old 69 and started to head south for home, there running up the road, was ONSTAR David. He was not malfunctioning after all, he was just delayed because he was on foot! [For more efficient service in the future I think staying on his bike or utilizing his vehicle would be good.]

I do believe he should advertise this feature more prominently when selling bikes - it could be worth a fortune!

Nacho_Wannabe

P.S. I did 14 km from Victory School this morning (Monday) and no one showed to keep me company (so sad :{ ).

Contributing to the blog

Nacho team members. If you would like to be able to contribute to the blog, please send a message to one of the contributers, we can then add you.

Good luck Tim

Well the poll results are in.

Tim is officially the most likely nacho team member to die or become critically injured at Beach to Battleship.

The results are as follows:

Tim 45%
Steve 35%
Gay Robot %12
Dave 3%
Chris 3%

Maybe Tim and Gay Robot can work something out.

Thanks to all those who voted (no matter how many times). And please vote on our next poll.

Which tattoo should Dave get, if Tim makes it to B2B injury freeÉ

Another great nacho save by our fearless David B! On his way back to PS this morning he spotted two hapless nacho teammates attempting to repair a tire slice. The poor bastards had just returned from a tour to Rosseau and back when tragedy struck. Dave was initially flummoxed by the timing of it all " I don't fucking believe it" he stammered before turning around to the aid of his nacho friends. They had not even thought to carry a sharp knife with them the dicks. Not to be deterred Dave managed to McGiver a tire patch out of the old tube ripping it along the wire cable of the highway retaining fence. He got that stuffed into place for added reinforcement before inflating the tire to prevent the new tube from pushing out the sidewall. We were agog, speechless. (Steve why didn't you think of that, easier than building a Sidewinder don't you think?)Then without further ado he climbed back on his bike with grease covered hands and sped oneward. He didn't even stay for the beers we had for him. A women passed by part way through this travesty and asked if we needed help. She nonetheless quickly departed when Steve simply asked if she had any nachoes and Pete was urinating. (Dave B worked silently on).

There are men, and then there are nacho men! The quick fix got the men home! If Dave could just get that trailer of his on the road the whole episode could have been performed with nacho Steve and nacho Pete in beauty lawn chairs, eh!

Training update

Friday May 9th - Peter, Chris and Tim did a 14km run. Tim did about 10km of that.

Saturday May10th - Good turnout for the group ride. Weather was great, did 36km ending with a nice sprint through a crowded Sobey's parking lot. Thanks Maryanne for the KILLER muffins!

Sunday May 11th- There is talk of another bike ride leaving from PS and heading to Rosseau and back. Contact Pete for details.

Dave.. are these special order?

Fuel Belt tm. has contacted me, and asked for some input on a new design. This is what we've come up with. I'm pretty happy with it, I think it's going to work.

Press Release: Nacho Team President issues apology;

At a press conference held this morning at the Toronto Hilton, Nacho Average Tri Team captain and president made the following statement when pressed by reporters to comment on the growing dissent with the once harmonious organization.

"I would like to take this time to issue a formal apology as a result of my recent actions. First, I am sorry that certain a member who shall remain nameless (CHRIS) is a sniveling crybaby and is too happy to dish out their fair share, but has great difficulty taking it. Further, I am sorry that said member does not observe rule #6 "Must be willing/able to have "balls busted" on a regular basis", and has difficulty when other people fulfill their duties in executing the second part of that rule. “ be able to "bust balls" at an elite level” Finally I’d like to say that I’m truyly sorry that the same member is such a quitter. I can only imagine how quickly he would pack it in when the race starts to get hard.

I hope this apology will be accepted, and we will now be able to mend broken relationships."

I Quit

I just realized that someone has revoked my administrative privileges. Just when I was going to add a bunch of really nice pictures of Tim, and a nice piece about what a wonderful job he is doing as Team Captain.

I quit. I will not be part of this Communist regime.

Just don't expect the blog to be updated much with Tim running it. It takes him about 2 hours to upload a post on dialup. Plus he has to get Tiffany to sound out the words for him.

I hope quitting doesn't mean I can't come out for Nachos and Beer.

peter jones

Hey Chris I'm working in Parry Sound all day today. I'd be up for that 14k with you. I did 15 on Monday so I might slow it down a bit. I can help you choose your tattoo too. Call me at work/when would we get started! (Let's make sure if we run past Tim's house that we do so quietly. Nevermind, he'll likely be eating.

peter jones

Thank God I'm posting now! This site was getting a little boring.
Anybody up for a pool on the "race to injury."
I voted for Tim. Apparently that beach ape has a chronic knee issue we should be able to exploit. Besides, David B said if that Tim doesn't get injured I'll get a tatoo on my scrotum when we reach N. Carolina.
Maybe a more realistic contest would be choosing Dave's knew tattoo!

Just what rights should an admin have?

Since some people seem to think admin means to change peoples posts to whatever they think is funny, I'm going to make the next poll:

Despite recent abuse of power issues, should Tim maintain his ability to administrate this blog?

I'm just glad people don't think I'm going to die during an endurance event. That must suck.

Last chance to get your votes in

The poll is closing tomorrow. We have some insider information which leads us to believe the results maybe slightly skewed due to some nefarious voting tactics.. nonetheless.

It looks like Tim and Steve are in a dead tie, with Gay Robot far behind.

Next Poll Topic: Should I shave my body for the an extra share of nacho cheese? Make sure you get those votes in, you could have a chance to be the one to shave me.

**Thankfully it's not the monumental task that dealing with Tim's "growth" would be.

Long Run Friday, and Group Ride Saturday

If anyone is interested, I'm planning a 14km run Friday after work. Gotta start getting some miles in before Ottawa. I'm going to go from Humphrey, unless there is significant interest from the Townies, I'll do it in town.

Also, has anyone heard the plan for the Sat. am group ride? If we are going to do the chase again, maybe some people might be interested in doing a few miles BEFORE the group ride.

EDIT: Friday's long run will be leaving from Trysport shortly after 4pm for those that can make it. It will be 14km.

Monday, May 5, 2008

Yes, we live in ONTARIO

I fixed the time, on the blog. Some meathead, had it set at GMT time or something.

I got suspicious when I saw Tim had posted at 5:37 am. Yeah Right. I'm fairly certain dialup doesn't work at that hour.

Fess up!

Alright nacho fans. Time to fess up! What training did you do this weekend? This might advise your picks for the current poll.

2. Must have sufficient funds to purchase above necessities for senior team members.
